Easy to install and great image quality

I've been using the Nextbase 512 for a couple of weeks now and so far so good. The camera itself is smaller than I'd imagined but this is definitely a good thing. The camera came with all the necessary cables and windscreen mount, but I also purchase the hardwiring kit so that I could free up the lighter socket for my phone. The mount fits easily and the camera locates on the mount and then you slide it to lock. Once on it is secure and doesn't move about. When you try to remove it however, it is a bit of a fiddle if I'm honest, but it's certainly not a deal breaker but why I've rated this 4 out of 5.

Great dashcam, easy to use and set up - early days for me...

The first dashcam I have tried. The reason I bought this was the ease of setup (according to others) and the features for use - I wanted one that started recording as soon as I turned on the engine, and one that could identify plates if necessary and provide a good picture in daytime and night. I didn't need wifi or other connectivity as TBH it was going to just sit and record 99% of the time. The setup was easy - I bought a separate SD Card, and *its worth noting* that you should get a class 10 card not the cheapest one you can find. I got the SanDisk SDSDQQ-032G-G46A High Endurance microSD Card - 32 GB. You need a class 10 card as it is better for writing high volume data (the 1080p recording) at high speeds. Also, you should look at the high endurance cards as the SD card itself is going to be overwritten thousands of times. Some lower level cards are specifically voided if used in dashcams as the usage is abnormal compared to, say, a camera or other infrequent storage device.

Good quality footage, very useful aid in today's hit 'n' run culture

I had this camera hard wired into the car at Halfords, great picture, quick detection of GPS constellation and automatic recording of events. Within a couple of weeks of owning this camera, someone drove into me not looking where they were going. All caught on camera, their insurance paid out. So it has already paid for itself many times over.

I like it so much I bought a second ...

The new polarising filter at the front of the lens makes a big difference. Out in the glorious sunshine yesterday and still clear pictures from the dashcam. Only downside is the mounting options all appear to be geared towards a downwards mount on the windscreen. As I wanted to have the dashcam in an area swept by the wipers in my Fiesta, I like to mount upside down on the very bottom of the screen. The camera supports an upside down orientation, but the suction mount and available fixed mounts will not bend enough to mount that way round.

512G Ultra, dash cam not as impressive as made out to be, massive amounts of strobing on playback, number plates are not as clear as the demo film for this product. I bought this one thinking it linked to my smartphone, sadly got that wrong. Not worth the Which Best Buy in my honest opinion.
